I have had this vaccuum just the summer years now but I am so fed up of it that i have purchased an alternative Kenmore cannister (which is usually fantastic) and relegated this to the upstairs. For a start I have never needed a vaccuum serviced once in a while in my life. When it falls over the idea stops working and must have service. If you pick up a whole lot of per hair it halts working. If the plug becomes dislodged in the outlet it stops doing work. The service is bad!! Everytime I go I find a lecture from the service guy i am too rough along with the vaccuum or I am vaccuuming too rapidly (what the heck!!! ) or some other sort of ridiculous exuse to stay away from honoring my warranty. When Im so hard with vaccuums why havent I saw it trouble with any many other brand?? The hose that is included with the handheld is really brittle and cracks without difficulty (mine is patched using electrical tape). The icing relating to the cake was when I bought my Kenmore... it accumulates a ton better ?n comparison to the Oreck... even when that Oreck was new. Actually i know this for a basic fact because I only filled the bag inside Oreck about once just about every 6 weeks and I can plug the bag in the Kenmore weekly... it gets a much bigger dirt and pet locks.... and I have had my Kenmore to get a year now and not had any issues with it all (even using my so-called fast together with rough vaccuuming). The only reason May possibly given it 2 stars ideal for the lightweight ergonomic pattern... other than that it can be a complete dud. Like most of the other reviewers I also fell for any hype & sales pitches for this vacuum. I was which has a cheap Panasonic model for over a decades and thought Id splurge and find this real fancy pressure. Boy was that a blunder from day one it dont work at all. I could smell some sort of burning smoke smell and as as it happens it was the pressure belt. When i talked to your service center I was told I would buy a big container of replacement belts for this purpose and I also require a maintenance contract. I had only used the vacuum twelve times at most before I use it out in the garage and bought an affordable vacuum from Costco to make use of. My husband tried to refurbish the Oreck several circumstances and couldnt. So i wasted over $300 about this piece of junk. May possibly the upright XL product upright. I have never replaced more belts inside my life. My hands just ached during the last time replacing the belt today. I just threw my own Oreck out my door into my side garden. Believe me it simply flew. I hate this little bit of junk. I have pets and ought to sweep and sweep the following vacuum never cut the idea. I think because As i paid$369. 00 for quarry I just felt it was eventually my fault. Id read the directions more and more reinstall the brush putting your unit together made no difference. The belt can be so tight your hands simply hurt after replacing that belt. The vacuum forces the dirt around simply fine but after forty minutes the doggone belt breaks AND I acquired lots of belts and bags in the local Oreck Store so that i know the belts are definitely the correct model. Well thats it to do. I have virtually virtually no temper but this vacuum will take out the worst within a person. I wish David Oreck would arrived at my door; he could certainly find the house easily my house contains a sweeper thrown out relating to the lawn. I just imagine David going to my door and I might punch that scam artist right inside nose! Dont buy a great Oreck. I wish I saw it the money I was conned using for this awful sweeper. I acquired a Dirt Devil Dynamite to get a friend to go below the Christmas tree well shes not setting it up. I opened the container stuck the handle in therefore clicked; that was the idea. I actually swept the house without the belt breaking--no carriers got all the pet hair its got a little head on it so that i can get into corners effectively. Its the best sweeper As i ever used. I recently bought the Oreck, after falling for the ads on tv and in print, about the suction power and the lightweight advantage. I love the fact that it isn't heavy, and the suction is fine, but the design is flawed, as it clogs almost every time I use it. I have to take it apart and clear out the entry area right behind the beater brush. It has a sharp angle, and debris gets caught up in there. I have long haired dogs and use the vacuum a lot. If I suck up a tiny piece of paper or even a 1/2 inch long leaf, it clogs and the hair won't go up into the bag. I am very disappointed. I spent nearly $300 and had I known, I would have just bought another 79.00 Bissell, as it never clogged.

I just got married 2 years ago, and I bought this vacuum when we moved into our new apartment. I have used it a grand total of maybe 20-30 times. We have no pets, the only "heavy-duty" stuff I've tried with it is short (<1") pine needles from our Christmas tree. So, recently the vacuum has stopped working. It turns on, the brush moves, but whatever gets sucked up gets pushed back out as I pull the vacuum cleaner towards me. This is like another circle of hell: seeing nice clean floor behind the vacuum, and then seeing all the dirt come back out on the pull. It's ridiculous! I bought Oreck because my grandfather loved his, but I can't see the attraction. I paid $200 for this??I've:1. bought all new bags,2. cut a few hairs/strings away from the rotating brush3. taken apart and cleaned the intake pipe to make sure it's clear.It still doesn't work. I guess my next step (according to other reviews I've read) is to try to unclog the area behind the brush? This is crap. I would rather drive my car over this thing. I don't have time for this! A vacuum should just work. Period. What a waste.
